Highgate Wood form: HW.16 Beaded-rim bowl or dish

  • Form: A shallow bowl or dish with a straight or slightly curved wall, flat base, and a simple beaded rim. The details of the rims varies considerably — many have a slight thickening on the inner face, and some are slightly undercut externally, while others are triangular. The difference between these and the undecorated versions of type 17 is not always clear, and particularly difficult to determine with small sherds and where the surfaces are abraded.
  • Fabric: HWB and HWC.
  • Phase: Phases 2 to 4.
