Highgate Wood form: HW.30 Handled flagon or jug

  • Form: A single handled flagon or jug with a beaded rim. Handled vessels are not a common Highgate type. This form is somewhat similar to the narrow-necked jar or flask of type 8, and some of those may belong in this category, but lack any traces of the original handle. In one related vessel 453 the neck is pinched together to create a “figure-of-eight” spout.
  • Fabric: HWB (one example) and HWC.
  • Phase: Phases 2 and 3.
