Highgate Wood form: HW.8.2 Narrow-necked jar

  • Form: Narrow-necked jar or flask with plain upper body, but with a broader band of decoration at the girth, which may be delimited by horizontal grooves, cordons or broader mouldings. The decoration may be either rectangular panels of barbotine dots (1397 as on the poppy beakers, type 12) or panels of combed decoration 1015. The sherd showing the neck and upper body 1536 may be an example of this type.
