Highgate Wood form: HW.9 Carinated beaker

  • Form: A carinated beaker. The long concave neck with plain rim slopes down to a sharp angled shoulder. There are no complete specimens, but it may have had a turned base. The type is rare at Highgate, and difficult to identify in small fragments. The likely ultimate prototype is the imported Gallo-Belgic form, represented by Camulodunum type 120, but examples from others sources are known.
